What's this site all about?
DeleteTweet is the haven for all of the ridiculous tweets found and submitted to us by deletetweet readers. These tweets are outrageous, hilarious, or horribly, horribly wrong -and just beg to be posted.
Well wait - some of these tweets are hilarious! They shouldn't be deleted!
We know! it is our aim to showcase some of the worst AND best one-liners on the internet! That is why we have our 'delete or keep' vote on each post so that readers can decide whether a post is worthy or should be erased, post-haste.
Who created/is involved in deletetweet?
DeleteTweet was created by two amateur Canadian developers. It is updated daily, and requires a lot of time and money to keep active, and glitch free. If you are a satisfied and regular reader of deletetweet, please consider donating to us to help us cover our costs, or buy us a cup o’ joe [read: beer]. You may donate to us easily through paypal, on the about page.
Hey!! That's me/my friend/a celebrity I like/just mean in general!
Have you noticed that when you visit your tweetin' profile -that the world can too? Yeah. Your tweets are public. So either you are subjecting us to some of the greatest comedy in the world, or you are just plain stupid and shouldn't be able to post on the internet. We consider deletetweet a service to the public. 'The moderators of the 140-character internet' so-to-speak. Don't like it? Delete your tweet, or make your tweets protected, so that we may no longer laugh at them.
No seriously. You featured my tweet and I want it removed.
The reason your username and tweet url have been linked to a post on deletetweet is because you have chosen to leave your tweet account account public. If you recognize one or more of your posts on deletetweet and would like it/them to be removed, simply send us an email via the contact form. In order to prevent postings like these of your tweets in the future, you may 'protect your tweets', and make them private via your tweeting account.
This site is lame.
Yeah? Well, so are your tweets.
Why should I create an account?
Well loyal reader - creating an account can make your regular deletetweet tasks go oh-so-smoother, it also opens up a number of doors for you in the deletetweet world! When you log in, you can speed through the 'submit tweet' process, as all of your personal information will already be entered. Alright, I've created an account. How do I add an avatar/picture where that little grey man is on the sidebar and beside my comments?
What you need to get is a gravatar. Visit gravatar.com and sign-up using the same email you signed up to deletetweet.com with. There you can create an avatar. it will automatically appear beside all of your comments, and load in the sidebar when you log in!
The password you gave me is a whole bunch of random letters and numbers. How do I change it?
When logged into deletetweet, click the 'profile' link under your avatar at the top of the sidebar. You will be taken to your profile. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your new password into both fields, and poof! New password!
How do I submit to deletetweet?
Find a tweet that would fit in here at deletetweet.com. Something really hilarious, insightful, or something really, horrendously, wrong. Click the submit button at the top of the navigation on the right-hand side.
*Note if you are logged in at the time of submitting, you will not have to enter in any of the information about you.
Once submitted, the tweet will be added to queue where it will wait to be reviewed. if approved, it will appear on the deletetweet site in a couple of days, or hours!
Why do I have to supply my contact information to submit to deletetweet? Will it be published?
ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL REMAIN ANONYMOUS. We require you to enter your name and email simply because it deters spammers. Because, if someone was to spam our inbox with there garbage, and be dumb enough to fill out the email field, we could {hypothetically} do it back. But seriously. It just saves us time, and means we only receive serious and well thought-out submissions. The only people that see your information is the deletetweet team, and we won't share it. For calm your nerves more, please check out our privacy policy.
I took a screen-cap of the tweeting offender. Can I submit that, instead of typing it out?
Yuss! Go to the submit page, and instead of filling out the tweeter's username and tweet, just upload your image in the field below it. It will be placed in the same queue as the typed ones, and will be reviewed before being posted.
How many tweets can I submit?
You can submit up to 10 tweets, 1 at a time to our queue. To submit more than that, you must wait for some of them to be approved and posted, or denied, until you can submit more to us. People who continue to send us garbage or spam us will be blocked out from the system.
I don't understand how to vote.
On each post, there are two buttons. The first is a 'Keepit' button with a bluebird holding a check mark. The second, is a 'Deleteit' button with a bluebird holding an X. For each tweet you may select one of these buttons and vote on the tweet.
If the tweet is hilarious, and you feel it should be kept as a tweet, select 'Keepit'. If the tweet is disgusting, gross, or stupid and you feel like the original poster should delete it from their account so the world is no longer subjected to it - click 'Deleteit'.
How do the percentages work?
Clicking 'Keepit' brings the percentage total upwards, while clicking 'deleteit' lowers the percentage. if the percentage is above 50% that means the voters voted on average that the original tweeter should keep their post. If the average is below 50%, then that means the tweeter should delete it!
How are the 'top tweets' on the sidebar calculated?
The 'top tweets' are considered the best, and funniest, recent tweets on deletetweet. They are updated everytime a reader votes 'keepit' beside a post. This raises it's rank.
The higher a specific tweet is on the sidebar, the more 'keepit's ' that tweet has received. The number directly beside the tweet is the exact number of 'keepit's it has received.
