Most people use twitter to update the uninterested world in their meaningless tasks and musings for the day. Some of them promote their websites, blogs, and businesses, where others use it as a source of instantaneous news, and to see what’s currently viral in the world.

What recent popstar, celebrity, or celebrity has-been has o.d’d on drugs?

What is Lady Gaga doing? What is she wearing?

Is Justin Beiberbeiber still effeminate?

Some people however, feel the need to take things too far. Discussing in detail the privacy of labor and childbirth, or disclosing that they must urgently ‘pass a bowel movement’, even going so far as to discuss consistency, potency, and color.

Some feel that with only 140 characters, all grammar should be thrown out the window. Run-on sentences, multiple thoughts crammed into little boxes of text, poor spelling that can be detrimental to the original thought getting across, and others.

Then there are those that like to share their complete unorthodox and socially-unacceptable views on society. Things they are in to (that society would rather not know), views on women, illegal activity, death threats, drug use, etc.

We think maybe its because people can hide through the internet. I guess people don’t realize that the world can see (and judge) each and every 140 character tweet they choose to post (so long as their accounts are left public, like the ones posted here).

So naturally, this is why deletetweet.com was created. We feel it is time to moderate the 140 Character internet- and to make fun of some of the senseless people who post on it.

But- we didn’t want to make it all bad. That’s why we’ve chosen some of the funniest tweets we could find, along with the most pathetic, disgusting or completely out of touch tweets we could find. So you, the reader, can ultimately decide which posts should be kept (and even re-tweeted again), and which posts should have been left, unsaid. (Read more about voting at the FAQ)

If you recognize one of your posts on deletetweet, congratulations! Either you are a hilarious son-of-a, or you have very little discretion and we felt you needed our help and moderation. Don’t take it personal. All of the tweets posted on deletetweet.com have been sibmitted by readers. This means it could be a close friend, buddy, or chum who is just joshing with you. However, it could also be the co-worker who sits accross from you who is subjected to your un-witty banter every day while giving you the stink-eye over the water cooler. Who knows?

But either way, consider this as free publicity. Sure your new followers may be silently laughing at your pathetic jokes, or submitting encore posts to us – but, maybe next time, you will think before you post another? We think so.

If you are unhappy with all of this free attention to your public profile, you can always delete the tweet that was featured, and protect your tweets via the twitter admin when you are logged in. Then you can continue to post without shame, and only the few you allow to follow you will be subjected to it.
